This page is a list of books and movies that I’ve read or watched that relate to state hospitals in some way. Some are based on actual events, while others are fictional in nature.  I find that movies and books often reflect the views of the time period they were written in or about and while they may not be 100% accurate, they do offer some insight into what life may have been like in state hospitals at various times in history.
